DOHA — In an exclusive interview with CNN’s Becky Anderson, Qatari Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani condemned Israel’s strike on Doha as “state terror” and accused Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of destroying any chance of securing the release of hostages in Gaza.

“I think that what Netanyahu has done yesterday, he just killed any hope for those hostages,” Al-Thani said, recalling a meeting with one of the hostages’ families on the morning of the attack. “They are counting on this [ceasefire] mediation, they have no other hope for that.”

The Qatari leader said he was “betrayed” and “enraged” by the attack, which he argued undermined ongoing mediation efforts. “I have no words to express how enraged we are from such an action… this is state terror,” he told CNN.

Al-Thani dismissed recent negotiations as “meaningless,” accusing Netanyahu of wasting time and showing no seriousness in pursuing a deal. He warned that both Israel and Hamas “are going to run out of chances” to secure a ceasefire.

Qatar, he said, is now “reassessing everything” regarding its role in future ceasefire talks and is in “very detailed conversation” with the US government on the way forward. He also called for a collective regional response that would “deter Israel from continuing this bullying.”

Asked about the fate of Hamas’ chief negotiator Khalil Al-Hayya, Al-Thani said: “Until now … there is no official declaration.”
