DOHA : Qatar has strongly condemned Israel after its forces carried out an air strike on the Qatari capital, Doha, killing at least six people and wounding several others.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani expressed condolences to the family of Corporal Badr Saad Mohammed Al Humaidi Al Dosari of the Internal Security Force, who was among those killed, as well as to the families of the other victims. He also wished a swift recovery to those injured.

Sheikh Mohammed sharply criticized Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, accusing him of attempting to impose his will on the region. “Such hostile behaviour reflects only the barbarism of Netanyahu,” he said, questioning whether Netanyahu’s previous declaration to “reshape the Middle East” was also intended as a threat to the Arabian Gulf.

The statement reflects mounting anger in Doha following the unprecedented Israeli attack, which struck a residential district of the Qatari capital and has drawn widespread condemnation across the region.
