MUSCAT : Hamed bin Ahmed Al Barashdi, official spokesperson for the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA), stated that the surge reflects growing domestic tourism and interest in the Khareef season, which draws thousands of visitors to Salalah each year.
“Demand exceeded supply by more than 100 percent between Muscat and Salalah, with flights operating at full capacity during the Dhofar Khareef 2025 season,” he said.
He pointed out that Oman Air and Salam Air were operating flights at full capacity throughout Khareef Dhofar.
Oman Air reported more than 5,500 passengers per day during peak periods. The airline increased its daily flights from 12 to 14, with operational capacity surpassing 110 percent on certain days.
SalamAir transported around 4,000 passengers per day at peak times, doubling its daily flights from 4 to 8. On some days, occupancy rates exceeded 125%, reflecting extremely high demand.
The Civil Aviation Authority emphasised its continued efforts to support the tourism sector and ensure sustainable growth through an integrated, responsive civil aviation network that keeps pace with travel demand.
