MUSCAT: Oman’s total coronavirus (COVID-19) recovery rate has exceeded 94%, the Minister of Health said.

Speaking to reporters, His Excellency Dr. Ahmed Al Saidi said a total of 81,828 patients have recovered. The total coronavirus cases in the country stands at 86,380, while the total deaths reached 705.

Meanwhile, the total percentage of positive tests (confirmed cases) decreased from 50% at the beginning of July to 17% until September 3.

“From now on, we will rely on 3 indicators when monitoring the epidemic, which are the number of inpatients, the number of intensive care cases and deaths per 1,00,000 of the population. We will not be relying on the number of daily examinations, this procedure is applied in many countries,” said Dr. Saif Al Abri, Director General of Infectious Diseases and Control at Ministry of Health.

“4 hospitals of the Ministry of Health are currently equipped for isolation. By the end of this month, all hospitals will be equipped according to international standards for taking care of COVID-19 patients,” Al Abri added.
