MUSCAT: Commercial and Industrial activities that were asked to close by the Supreme Committee have “the right to not pay the rents” during the closure period, Minister of Health said on Thursday.

Speaking to the media, His Excellency Dr. Ahmed Al Saidi said the tenants have the right. “The owners of commercial and industrial activities who were asked to close their shops by the Supreme Committee during the pandemic, have the right to not pay the rent during the closure period,” Al Saidi said.

Hundreds of commercial and industrial activities were closed in the country during the coronavirus outbreak and the subsequent lockdown over the last many months. Oman eased restrictions by reopening many commercial activities including barbershops.
