UAE cyclist Mohammed Al-Mutaiwei wins Dhofar Classic as Salalah Tour kicks off

UAE national team rider Mohammed Al-Mutaiwei clinched victory in the inaugural Dhofar Classic cycling race on Thursday, launching the fifth Salalah International Cycling Tour 2025 with a thrilling finish across Dhofar’s scenic trails.

MUSCAT : The 174-kilometer race, which began in Al-Maghsail and ended at Darbat Falls, featured 146 riders from 15 international and local teams. Al-Mutaiwei powered to first place, with compatriot Abdullah Jassim securing second and Tegshpayar Patsikhan of Thailand’s Rojai Insurance team finishing third.

The Dhofar Classic, registered in the (2.1) category of the International Cycling Union, crowned its champions in a ceremony led by Amarjit Singh, President of the Asian Cycling Federation. The UAE national team also claimed the Best Team award.

His Excellency Dr. Ahmed bin Mohsen Al Ghassani, Chairman of Dhofar Municipality, praised the event’s growing international profile. He highlighted the strategic partnership between Dhofar Municipality, the Oman Cycling Federation, and the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth, which has positioned Salalah as both a sporting and tourism hub during the Khareef season.

The Salalah International Cycling Tour 2025, spread across five stages, continues in the coming days with routes from Ain Razat to Khor Rori (113 km), Taqah Fort to Hajif (135 km), Al-Hafa Beach Market to Ain Ishate (162 km), and Al-Dahariz Beach to Wadi Darbat (123 km).
