London – Prime Minister Keir Starmer has announced a sweeping reshuffle of his cabinet after the dramatic resignation of Deputy Prime Minister Angela Rayner, who stepped down following a property tax controversy.

In the shake-up, Yvette Cooper has been appointed as the United Kingdom’s new Foreign Secretary, moving from her senior role in domestic politics to head the country’s diplomacy. She replaces David Lammy, who has been promoted to Deputy Prime Minister while also taking charge of the Justice Ministry.

The changes are among the most significant since Labour entered government last year. Starmer said the appointments would “strengthen the leadership team at a crucial moment” for the country.
