Muscat: The Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) is close to finalizing a unified system to link traffic violations across its member states, with 95% of the project now complete, Al-Qabas reported.
GCC Secretary-General Jassim Al Budaiwi told Al-Qabas that cross-border exchange of traffic fines is already being tested. Once fully launched, violations recorded in one GCC country will automatically be recognized and enforced in the driver’s home country.
Al Budaiwi emphasized that the initiative will strengthen compliance with traffic laws, reduce repeat offenses, and boost road safety across the region. He noted that the project represents a milestone in GCC cooperation, ensuring accountability for motorists beyond national borders.
