Oman’s Education Ministry opens registration for adult education and literacy programmes for 2025/2026

The Ministry of Education has announced the official opening of registration for the literacy and adult education systems for the academic year 2025/2026, as part of its ongoing efforts to support lifelong learning and combat illiteracy across the Sultanate.

MUSCAT – According to the Ministry, registration for literacy programmes will run from September 1 to September 25, 2025, while registration for adult education programmes will remain open until October 16, 2025. Applicants must adhere to the specified deadlines, as no applications will be accepted after the registration period ends.


Online Registration and Guidelines:
Registration will be conducted exclusively through the Ministry’s electronic portal at https://eportal.moe.gov.om/. Applicants must provide accurate information and ensure that all required documents are submitted correctly.
Eligible students may register in:
• The governorate listed as their permanent address on their ID card.
• The governorate where they are employed (with employer proof).
• A governorate where they previously studied for two years (with supporting documentation).
Exemptions and Special Categories
The following categories are exempted from paying registration fees, provided that proof is attached:
• Social security beneficiaries
• Persons with disabilities
• Elderly Omani citizens aged 60 years and above
Registration Fees (Adult Education Programme)
The Ministry has outlined the registration fees for the Continuing Education System (Adult Education) as follows: For grades 7 to 11, the fee for first-time registration is RO 5, while re-registration costs RO 10. For grade 12, the first-time registration fee is RO 10, and re-registration is set at RO 50.
Required Attachments:

  1. Copy of both sides of the ID card (valid for at least six months)
  2. Academic certificate of the last successfully completed school year
  3. Social security card (if applicable)
  4. No-objection letter from employer (for employed students)
  5. Proof of employment in a different governorate (if registering outside the ID card governorate)
    Application Process:
    • Once registered, students will receive a text message with their application number.
    • The application will be reviewed, and students will be notified of provisional acceptance.
    • Accepted applicants must then pay the required fees to complete the process.
    • Confirmation will be sent via SMS once payment is confirmed.
    • If there is an error in the application, students will be notified via text message and must correct and resubmit.
    • Rejected applications will also receive SMS confirmation.
    • If no message is received, applicants should check their email, the registration platform, or visit the General Directorate of Education in their governorate within five days of submission.
    Important Note for International Applicants:
    Applicants holding certificates from outside Oman must select the option “student coming from outside the Sultanate” during registration. Failure to do so will result in application rejection.
    Remote Learning Options:
    Students wishing to enrol in remote adult education classes must complete registration online and then contact the Lifelong Learning Department in their respective educational governorate for further coordination.
