Muscat: Organised by the Oman Table Tennis Association in collaboration with the Arab Table Tennis Federation, the tournament runs until September 4 and has drawn 24 men’s teams and 11 women’s teams.

Among the men’s clubs participating are Al-Fahaheel and Al-Yarmouk from Kuwait, South Gas and North Oil from Iraq, Al-Arabi and Al-Sadd from Qatar, Wydad Casablanca from Morocco, ENPPI and Petrojet from Egypt, Al-Ittihad and Al-Shabab from Saudi Arabia, and local Omani clubs including Al-Seeb, Ibri, and Salalah. The women’s category includes teams from Algeria, Iraq, Morocco, Syria, Egypt, Qatar, and Kuwait.

The tournament draw will be held Saturday, dividing clubs into groups with the top two from each advancing to the finals. Matches will be played on eight tables from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily.

This year’s edition promises strong competition as the Arab Federation has allowed clubs to field professional foreign players under specific regulations. Matches will follow the modern Cup Swiss system, ensuring competitive balance and equal opportunities until the final rounds.

Held as part of the Jabal Al Akhdar Press Forum, the event has also attracted more than 70 journalists and media professionals to highlight Oman’s growing role in hosting international sporting events.
