Muscat: The case dates back to an agreement between the consumer and a company specializing in electricity, water, and telephone line services to provide and install fire-fighting equipment within a specified period. However, the company delayed the installation, prompting the consumer to file a complaint with the CPA.
After reviewing the matter and engaging both parties, the Authority facilitated an amicable settlement requiring the company to refund the full amount paid. The CPA emphasized that such resolutions highlight its commitment to safeguarding consumer rights, promoting transparency, and ensuring fair dealings in commercial contracts.
The Authority reiterated the importance of suppliers honoring agreements made with consumers and urged companies to respond promptly to complaints to avoid legal consequences. It also reaffirmed its dedication to monitoring such cases to guarantee protection and fair treatment for consumers across Oman.
