MUSCAT : According to the Directorate, a total of 8,347 pastoral seedlings were produced and distributed to 385 beneficiaries, including livestock breeders, rural women, farmers, and several public and private entities. The initiative provides seedlings free of charge, directly supporting communities dependent on agriculture and apiculture.
The distributed varieties included species of high environmental and economic value, such as Sidr, Samr, Ghaf, Shoa, Sarh, Moringa, Bambar, Parkinsonia, Henna, Talh, Chasteberry, Carob, and Frankincense. These plants play a vital role in soil protection, increasing green cover, supporting wildlife, and boosting local honey production, particularly the prized Sidr and Samr honey.
Officials explained that the initiative aims not only to improve soil fertility and livestock sustainability but also to create wider socio-economic benefits by supporting small-scale farmers and promoting high-quality local products.
