Ankara: The Oman Football Association (OFA) has assembled the national team in Türkiye for an intensive external training camp, with the goal of enhancing their readiness under the leadership of newly appointed Portuguese tactician Carlos Queiroz, who took the reins in July 2025. Queiroz replaces Rashid Jaber, who successfully led the team to the fourth round of the Asian qualifiers.

The team’s next hurdle is a high-stakes match against Qatar scheduled for October 8 at 11:00 AM (local time) at Doha’s Jassim Bin Hamad Stadium. This clash opens Oman’s campaign in the fourth round of the AFC 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers, part of Group B along with Qatar and the UAE.

Oman will face the United Arab Emirates three days later on October 11, continuing the layer of pressure in Group B’s compressed schedule.

The fourth round’s group winners will earn direct qualification for the expanded 48-team 2026 World Cup finals. Runners-up advance to November playoff matches, with successful sides entering intercontinental qualifiers in March.
