Muscat: The “Barmajan” Digital Transformation Hackathon officially entered the Guinness World Records as both the longest government digital transformation hackathon and the largest multi-site hackathon lesson in the world.
The record-setting event was staged at two major venues, the National Museum and the Sultan Qaboos Sports Complex in Bousher, bringing together more than 250 young participants. His Excellency Sayyid Said bin Sultan Al Busaidi, Undersecretary of the Ministry for Culture, was present to mark the achievement.
Sultan bin Mohsen Al-Subhi, Project Manager for the hackathon, described the Guinness recognition as a landmark for Oman’s digital journey. He added that the global recognition would amplify Oman’s visibility and send a strong message on the importance of digital transformation for modern governance.

Launched on July 21, Barmajan included a range of technical challenges and training sessions aimed at developing practical solutions for government services. The initiative united developers, programmers, UX designers, and business analysts from across Oman, showcasing the creativity and innovation of Omani youth.
