MUSCAT – The hackathon will be held in several governorates, starting with Duqm, in Al Wusta Governorate, from August 27 to 31.
This event comes within the framework of national efforts to promote creativity and innovation, in line with the objectives of Oman Vision 2040. It affirms the Oman’s position as a leading destination for sustainable and competitive tourism.

It is worth noting that the technical organisation of the event is being coordinated with the Muscat Hospitality Academy (MHA) and Darbak Company.

The hackathon aims to provide a platform for youth, entrepreneurs, and innovators to develop practical and smart solutions that meet the evolving demands of the tourism sector. It also seeks to motivate and empower Omani talent to think innovatively and address sectoral challenges through applicable solutions that contribute to promoting sustainable growth and supporting the sector’s long-term competitiveness. The event will also serve as a space for collaboration and expertise exchange, affirming the Sultanate of Oman’s commitment to supporting innovation and honing future skills in the tourism and hospitality sectors.
Participation is open to individuals with innovative ideas, whether individually or in teams of two to four members. The target group includes entrepreneurs, job seekers, and university and college students from across the Sultanate of Oman. Through this diversity, the hackathon seeks to exchange experiences and launch projects that contribute to improving the visitor experience and strengthening Oman’s position in the advanced tourism sector.
Participants will focus on key themes during the competition, including smart tourism destinations, visitor experiences, events and activities, sustainable tourism, digital innovation, and the preservation and promotion of heritage and culture. These themes were carefully selected to ensure that the hackathon outcomes align with the interim and strategic objectives of the Omani tourism sector.
