MUSCAT – The project falls within the ministry’s efforts to develop road networks and enhance logistical and tourism connectivity between the wilayats of Dhofar, in partnership with a local Omani company specializing in the field.

According to Eng. Said Mohammed Tabook, Director General of Roads and Land Transport in Dhofar Governorate, the new road has been designed with a width of 12 meters to accommodate various types of vehicles and passes through rugged mountainous terrain. He noted that the project will facilitate travel between the two wilayats by reducing the distance from 60 kilometres to approximately 20 kilometres—a shortcut of around 40 kilometres.

He added that the road passes through several prominent natural and tourist sites, including water springs, wadis, archaeological locations, and beaches, making it a key contributor to boosting tourism in the region, particularly during the Khareef (monsoon) season.

Tabook affirmed that the Ministry of Transport, Communications, and Information Technology is currently studying the possibility of including the project in future road paving initiatives, in line with Dhofar’s development aspirations and aimed at improving the quality of the governorate’s road infrastructure
