Cholera outbreak claims at least 40 lives in Sudan

Doctors Without Borders (MSF) announced today that at least 40 people have died in Darfur, Sudan, over the past week, amid a cholera outbreak in the country, which has been embroiled in a war for more than two years.

KHARTOUM – “In addition to an all-out war, the people of Sudan are now suffering from the worst cholera outbreak the country has seen in years,” the MSF (Médecins Sans Frontières) said in a statement.


The organisation reported that more than 2,300 patients were treated in the Darfur region alone in the last week, with 40 fatalities recorded during that period.
