Guided by the mantra of ‘One Earth, One Health,’ Bharat has expanded cooperation with all countries. Today, Bharat is home to the world’s largest health insurance scheme, Ayushman Bharat, which has become a lifeline for over 500 million people. An ecosystem for traditional medicine systems such as Ayurveda, Yoga, Unani, and Siddha has been established. 

With a strong network of pharmaceutical companies, advanced research capabilities, and cost-effective production, India plays a crucial role in supporting global health systems and ensuring the availability of essential medicines. As lead manufacturer and exporter of affordable, high-quality generic medicines and vaccines, India supplies over 50% of the global demand for vaccines and about 20% of generic drugs. 

Jan Aushadhi programme in India is providing access to common population to affordable and quality medicines. Under this programme, cost of medicines in India has been brought down by 50 to 80 percent. It is helping more than 1 million Indians daily.

Through Digital Health initiatives, healthcare services are reaching an increasing number of people across even the remotest parts of the country. National Telemedicine Service of India, eSanjeevani, facilitates quick and easy access to doctors and medical specialists over internet and via smartphones. It is a step towards digital health equity to achieve Universal Health Coverage.
