KYIV : The coordinated aid will be funneled through NATO’s newly launched Ukraine Defense Capability Coalition, a defense partnership also supported by Canada, the Netherlands, and other European allies. The Netherlands was the first to commit, pledging €500 million earlier this week.

According to reports from Khaama Press, Sweden is contributing $275 million, Norway $146 million, and Denmark $90 million. The funds will be transferred immediately to NATO to expedite delivery of weapons to Ukrainian forces.

This move follows a proposal initially backed by US President Donald Trump, under which the United States would supply high-grade weapons while European nations shoulder the financial costs.

“Speed is vital,” said Denmark’s defense minister, echoing concerns that Ukraine needs critical weaponry without delay. Norway’s defense minister also emphasized that time is of the essence to strengthen Ukraine’s defense lines.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy welcomed the announcement, calling it a “new foundation for European security” and a powerful deterrent to Russian advances. He also confirmed a “productive conversation” with President Trump earlier this week, where both sides discussed battlefield updates, increasing Russian strikes, and the urgent need for a “just and lasting peace.”

“It is truly a must to stop the killing as soon as possible,” Zelenskyy said, blaming Moscow for prolonging the conflict, which has now entered its third year.
