ISLAMABAD – According to the National Disaster Management Authority eight deaths and 21 injuries were recorded over the past 24 hours in separate incidents from heavy monsoon rains across Pakistan.
The authority indicated that the heavy rainfall caused the collapse of 1,553 homes and the death of at least 374 heads of livestock.

Monsoon rains are essential in South Asia for irrigating crops and replenishing water supplies; however, their negative impact has worsened in recent years due to rapid urbanisation, poor drainage systems, and extreme weather events associated with climate change.
