BERLIN : At just 23 years old, Al Sulaimani delivered a standout performance in the preliminary round with a time of 1:49.34 minutes—his fastest this season and his personal best for 2025. Although he finished fourth in his heat, the impressive time was enough to secure him a spot in the semi-finals, outperforming several seasoned runners.

Competing in one of the most competitive events in the Universiade, Al Sulaimani emerged as the only Arab athlete to advance to the next round of the 800m race, underlining his rising status in the world of university athletics.

The university team’s technical staff, led by Saeed Al-Rashidi, expressed satisfaction with the remarkable improvement in Al-Sulaimani’s performance, even though he is only 23 years old. They are looking forward to continuing his strong performance in the semi-finals and going far in the tournament.

With this performance, all eyes turn to the next race, where Al Sulaimani is expected to take on the challenge with high spirits tomorrow, with his sights set on qualifying for the final and achieving a historic achievement for the Sultanate of Oman in the global university athletics arena.
