LONDON : UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer criticized Israel’s ongoing military operations in Gaza, describing the escalation as “disproportionate” and “indefensible.” His remarks come amid rising international concern over civilian casualties and humanitarian conditions in the besieged territory.
Starmer emphasized that recognizing a Palestinian state must be more than symbolic. “It must be a step toward lasting peace,” he said, underlining that such recognition should be integrated into a comprehensive plan supporting a two-state solution.
“This is how we ensure maximum benefits from recognizing a Palestinian state,” he added, highlighting the need for coordinated international efforts that lead to meaningful negotiations and stability in the region.
