Muscat: The podcast episode wasn’t tied to a single exam but was a celebration of the academic year’s completion and a deep dive into what it takes to excel during the most demanding phase of school life. Speaking confidently, Al-Salt revealed, “Yes, I expected to achieve 99%. Grade 12 is quite different — it’s filled with both pressure and joyful moments.”

Recalling the challenges of the first semester, he said, “We faced many obstacles, but we managed to overcome them.” One of the tools that helped him navigate the workload was effective time management. “I used the Pomodoro technique — studying for 30 to 40 minutes followed by a short break — and kept Thursdays for rest. This routine even helped me prepare for the IELTS exam alongside my finals.”

Beyond academics, Al-Salt highlighted the emotional weight of the year. “The greatest challenge I faced was stress and anxiety, but I overcame it by trusting in God, believing in myself, and avoiding comparisons with others.”

His academic strategy involved smart techniques like spaced repetition, which helped him retain complex topics in physics, chemistry, and mathematics. He also praised his teachers for simplifying new concepts and keeping students motivated. When asked about private tutoring, Al-Salt responded, “It’s not always necessary. The new curriculum is easier, and online platforms like YouTube can be more effective for some students.”

As he looks ahead, Al-Salt aspires to study petroleum engineering abroad but remains open to exploring other career paths. His message to students was clear and heartfelt: “Never postpone studying and always stay persistent in your pursuit of success.”
