GENEVA: WHO Director-General Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus confirmed that the organization oversaw the evacuation of 35 patients—most of them children—from Gaza to Jordan, accompanied by 72 family members. The evacuation was part of ongoing efforts to offer emergency medical assistance to those most vulnerable.
However, Dr. Tedros emphasized that over 10,000 people in Gaza still urgently require medical evacuation, and at the current pace, it would take years to reach them all.
The WHO continues to push for the reopening and expansion of medical corridors, including the pre-war referral pathways to hospitals in the West Bank and East Jerusalem.

Gaza’s already struggling healthcare system has been pushed to the brink due to ongoing airstrikes, compounded by severe shortages of medical supplies, food, water, and fuel. The WHO reports that many hospitals are now out of service, with the remaining facilities barely able to function.
