TEXAS – “We have recovered 43 bodies in Kiir County, including 28 adults and 15 children,” said Kerr County Sheriff Larry Leitha at a press conference.
Earlier, Leitha announced that “more than 850 uninjured people and eight injured people were evacuated.
Texas Governor Greg Abbott said he would expand the state’s disaster declaration and request additional federal resources from President Donald Trump.
Nim Kidd, Chief of the Texas Division of Emergency Management (TDEM), said air, land, and water rescue crews are combing the Guadalupe River for survivors and bodies of the dead.
“We will continue searching until all the missing are found,” he added.
It is noteworthy that the floods began on Friday with heavy rains causing the Guadalupe River to rise by eight meters in 45 minutes.
