Vienna: Starting from pole position, Norris led the pack into Turn 1, fending off the constant pressure from his teammate. Although Piastri briefly took the lead during the race, Norris regained control and ultimately crossed the finish line with a 2.7 second lead. Ferrari driver Charles Leclerc claimed third place, with his teammate Lewis Hamilton and Mercedes’s George Russell rounding out the top five.

On the opening lap, rookie Kimi Antonelli collided with Max Verstappen, forcing both drivers to retire from the race. Williams also endured a dismal weekend, as Alex Albon was forced to retire his car due to mechanical issues, and Carlos Sainz was ruled out before the start due to his brakes catching fire as he was leaving the pit lane for the formation lap. This incident delayed the start of the Grand Prix by 15 minutes.

Despite Norris’s victory, Piastri still retains the lead in the drivers’ championship with 216 points. Norris now trails by just 15 points, reigniting his title hopes as Verstappen’s DNF drops him 61 points off the lead. McLaren is now enjoying a healthy advantage in both the drivers’ and constructors’ standings.
