MIAMI : The high-stakes encounter marked the final matchday of Group 1 in the tournament’s group stage, with both clubs needing a result to guarantee progression. Inter Miami started strong, opening the scoring in the 16th minute with a goal from Tadeo Allende. Veteran striker Luis Suarez extended the lead in the 65th minute, giving the American side a 2-0 cushion.
But Palmeiras mounted a spirited comeback in the second half. Paulinho struck in the 80th minute, and Mauricio Pardo delivered a late equaliser in the 88th, levelling the match and securing a crucial point for the Brazilian club.
The draw pushed Palmeiras to the top of the group standings with five points—edging ahead of Inter Miami on goal difference.
