DUBAI – The advisories from Zayed International Airport in Abu Dhabi and Sharjah Airport underscore the ongoing impact of recent geopolitical events on air travel.

Zayed International Airport (AUH) today urged all passengers to confirm their flight details before heading to the airport, emphasising that passenger safety remains their top priority.

A similar alert has been issued by Sharjah Airport, warning passengers of potential delays and cancellations due to the closures and encouraging them to stay updated via their respective airlines.
These advisories follow an Iranian missile strike on a U.S. military base in Qatar, which led to the temporary closure of airspace over Qatar, Bahrain, and Kuwait.

Dubai Airports, which experienced a temporary suspension of operations earlier, confirmed on Monday evening that it has resumed full capacity. Officials however cautioned that some flights may still be subject to delay or cancellation and encouraged travellers to monitor airline updates.

Airlines operating from the UAE have also adjusted their operations in response to the volatile situation. Etihad Airways, the UAE’s national carrier, confirmed rerouting several flights on June 23 and 24 as a precautionary measure, advising customers to monitor their flight status on etihad.com.

Sharjah-based low-cost carrier Air Arabia also reported disruptions due to airspace restrictions, stating that affected passengers would be notified via SMS and email, and urged all travellers to check airarabia.com for the latest information. Meanwhile, Emirates airline confirmed that while several flights were rerouted on June 23, no diversions were ultimately required.
