Washington D.C : Experts warn that artificial intelligence tools are being misused to spread highly realistic but false content, including fake footage of missile strikes and war damage. Companies like GetReal Security have traced many such videos to AI generators like Google’s Veo 3, while disinformation watchdog NewsGuard found over 50 websites promoting fabricated stories.

False claims, including those from Iranian state-linked media and Telegram channels, are targeting public perception, especially within Iran. Meanwhile, fact-checkers have flagged clips from video games being misrepresented as real combat footage.

Resarchers say weakened content moderation on tech platforms and unreliable AI chatbots are worsening the crisis, urging the need for stronger detection tools and improved digital literacy to preserve trust in online information.
