WASHINGTON : In a statement shared via social media, Vance backed Trump’s long-standing position that Iran must not be allowed to obtain a nuclear weapon. Highlighting the former president’s consistency over the past decade, he noted, “Trump has remained amazingly consistent that Iran cannot have a nuclear weapon.”
Vance said Trump has shown “remarkable restraint” in avoiding foreign military entanglements, keeping US forces focused on safeguarding troops and citizens rather than initiating new conflicts. “He may decide he needs to take further action to end Iranian enrichment. That decision ultimately belongs to the president,” he added.
Acknowledging public concerns over prolonged US involvement in Middle Eastern conflicts, Vance remarked that skepticism was valid “after the last 25 years of idiotic foreign policy.” However, he reiterated that Trump has pursued a diplomatic resolution first — but warned that the president has always made it clear: halting enrichment would happen “the easy way or the ‘other’ way.”
