MIAMI: Despite dominating the first half, Al Ahly failed to capitalise on several clear opportunities, most notably a missed penalty by Mahmoud Hassan Trezeguet in the 42nd minute. The Egyptian side looked sharper early on, pressing high and creating chances, but couldn’t find the breakthrough.
Inter Miami struggled to find rhythm in the opening stages but held firm in defence to secure a point in the Group A clash.
With the draw, both teams opened their campaign with one point apiece. Group A also features European contenders Porto (Portugal) and South American champions Palmeiras (Brazil), with the top two teams set to advance to the round of 16.
