MUSCAT– The case stems from the complaint received by the Consumer Protection Authority (CPA) regarding a contract made by a consumer with the commercial establishment to repair his vehicle in four days, for a fee of RO 40.
However, the establishment failed to fulfil the agreement and continued to procrastinate, prompting the consumer to file an official complaint.
The Authority transferred the complaint to the Public Prosecution, which initiated an investigation and subsequently referred the case to the competent court. The court issued a conviction against two employees of the establishment and sentenced each of them to a fine of RO 500, in addition to obligating them to pay the costs of the criminal proceedings.
