AHMEDABAD : The directive, issued on June 13, 2025, calls for a comprehensive set of additional maintenance checks and safety evaluations to be conducted before any 787-8/9 aircraft departs from India starting June 15, 2025. The order is aimed at ensuring the continued airworthiness of the aircraft following the crash involving an Air India B787-800 en route from Ahmedabad to Gatwick.

Key actions outlined in the directive include inspections of fuel parameters, cabin air compressor systems, and the electronic engine control system. It also mandates operational testing of the engine’s fuel-driven actuator, serviceability checks of the hydraulic system, and a detailed review of take-off parameters.

Further safety measures include the introduction of a new ‘Flight Control Inspection’ during transit inspections until further notice, and the execution of power assurance checks within two weeks. Additionally, the DGCA has instructed a review of maintenance records for repetitive technical snags over the last 15 days, with a directive to close any outstanding issues at the earliest.

All findings from these inspections are to be submitted to the DGCA for further review. The agency has emphasized that these precautionary steps are part of its commitment to upholding the highest standards of aviation safety across India’s skies.
