MUSCAT : In an official statement, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) expressed concern over the growing tensions and urged both nations to prioritise diplomacy over conflict.

“India urges both sides to avoid any escalatory steps. Existing channels of dialogue and diplomacy should be utilised to work towards a de-escalation of the situation and resolving underlying issues,” MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said on Friday.

The appeal came shortly after Israel carried out a series of coordinated airstrikes in what it dubbed Operation Rising Lion. The strikes, aimed at Iran’s nuclear and military infrastructure, marked a dangerous new chapter in the long-standing conflict between the two countries.
