AHMEDABAD : Boeing President and CEO Kelly Ortberg expressed the company’s sympathies, stating that their “deepest condolences go out to the loved ones of the passengers and crew on board Air India Flight 171, as well as everyone affected in Ahmedabad.” The aircraft, a Boeing 787, crashed shortly after take-off en route to London, striking a residential building near a medical college.

Ortberg confirmed that he has spoken directly with Air India Chairman N. Chandrasekaran to offer Boeing’s full support. A dedicated Boeing team has been placed on standby to assist the investigation, which is being led by India’s Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB).

Boeing reiterated that it will defer to the AAIB for all official updates regarding the crash, in line with international aviation protocols under the United Nations’ ICAO Annex 13, which governs accident investigations.
