Air India diverts multiple flights amid Iran airspace closure

Amid escalating tensions in Iran leading to the closure of its airspace, Air India has diverted or returned several international flights to ensure passenger safety.

NEW DELHI : In response to the developing situation in Iran and the closure of its airspace, Air India has announced the diversion or return of numerous flights on key international routes. These precautionary changes affect flights between India and destinations including New York, London, Toronto, Washington, and Vancouver.

Among the affected flights are AI130 (London-Mumbai), which has been diverted to Vienna, AI102 (New York-Delhi) to Sharjah, and AI116 (New York-Mumbai) to Jeddah. Several outbound flights from India such as AI129 (Mumbai-London) and AI103 (Delhi-Washington) have returned to their originating cities.

Air India has expressed regret over the disruption and is providing accommodations to stranded passengers. Refunds or free rescheduling options are also being offered. The airline is working to arrange alternate routes to minimize travel delays.

Passengers are urged to check their flight status before heading to the airport.
