Muscat – The forum is part of the CPA’s broader awareness campaign, ‘Safe Online Shopping’, and aligns with the Sultanate’s commitment to realising Oman Vision 2040, which emphasises the creation of a sustainable, knowledge-based digital economy. The event will see participation from multiple government entities involved in regulating e-commerce and protecting consumer interests.

The forum aims to enhance community awareness of consumer rights in the digital environment, clarify providers’ obligations towards consumers on electronic platforms, and highlight the main regulatory and digital challenges in e-commerce. It will also present the Authority’s efforts in monitoring, awareness, and complaint handling, and encourage dialogue between regulatory bodies, providers, and consumers.

The forum will address several key topics, including consumer rights and provider obligations across various online sales channels, legal frameworks regulating e-commerce, commercial fraud and electronic scams in the context of digital economy, role of government institutions within e-commerce as well as that of the CPA.

This initiative builds on the momentum of the ‘Safe Online Shopping’ campaign, held from May 13 to June 3, 2025, which sought to educate the public on best practices in digital purchases and to bolster confidence in Oman’s online marketplaces.
