BRAZIL : The two sides booked their places following Brazil’s narrow 1-0 win over Paraguay and Ecuador’s goalless draw with Peru.

The qualification sees Brazil maintain their historic streak, remaining the only nation to have qualified for every edition of the World Cup. The five-time champions now prepare for their 23rd appearance in the tournament, which will be hosted across the United States, Canada, and Mexico.

In Sao Paulo, Brazil clinched the win thanks to a first-half stoppage-time strike by Vinicius Junior, giving Carlo Ancelotti a victorious home debut as head coach. The result leaves Brazil with 25 points and safely above the qualification cutoff, with just two rounds left in the South American qualifiers.

Ecuador, who matched Brazil’s 25-point tally, also secured their World Cup spot after holding Peru to a 0-0 draw in Lima. The point was enough to guarantee Ecuador’s second consecutive World Cup appearance, a testament to their rising consistency on the international stage.

The draw, however, spelled the end of the road for Peru, whose hopes were extinguished despite reaching 12 points. They now sit six points behind seventh-placed Venezuela and out of contention.
