Oman’s Health Ministry issues heat stress alert, highlights 12 key symptoms to watch this summer

As temperatures continue to soar across the Sultanate, the Ministry of Health has issued an advisory urging the public to remain vigilant against heat stress and its potentially serious health effects.

Muscat – The alert comes as part of the Ministry’s ‘Safe Summer’ awareness campaign, which aims to educate residents on staying safe during extreme heat conditions.

To help the public recognise early symptoms and take preventive action, the Ministry outlined the following 12 warning signs:

  1. Profuse sweating
  2. Feeling of fatigue or general tiredness
  3. Intense thirst
  4. Mild headache
  5. Nausea or vomiting
  6. Dizziness or light-headedness
  7. Irritability or difficulty concentrating
  8. Muscle cramps
  9. Rapid heartbeat
  10. Redness or warmth of the skin
  11. Cool or moist skin with slight paleness
  12. Elevated body temperature (38 – 39.5°C)
