BENGALURU: What began as a jubilant moment for thousands of RCB fans quickly descended into tragedy near Bengaluru’s Chinnaswamy Stadium. According to reports from Indian media, the stampede broke out as fans surged in from multiple gates, eager to catch a glimpse of the team’s first-ever IPL trophy celebration.

Emergency services faced significant challenges reaching the injured due to severely congested roads. All injured individuals were eventually taken to Bowring Hospital for treatment. In another incident, a fan attempting to scale a stadium gate fell and fractured his leg.

Despite a large police presence, crowd control efforts fell short. People were seen climbing trees and sitting precariously on branches to get a view of the celebrations, highlighting the overwhelming turnout and lack of preparedness.

In light of the events, the Karnataka government cancelled the planned victory parade from Vidhana Soudha to the stadium. Officials cited security concerns and ongoing crowd control challenges. Police stated they had been managing enthusiastic crowds since Tuesday night, even resorting to mild baton charges outside Vidhana Soudha earlier in the day to disperse unruly gatherings.
