MUSCAT : The agreement to develop and operate the first phase of the Rawdha Special Economic Zone was signed in the presence of His Highness Sayyid Badr bin Mohammed Al Said, HH Sayyid Theyazin bin Haitham bin Tarik Al Said, Oman’s Minister of Culture, Sports, and Youth, and His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence of the UAE.

The project is spearheaded by the Public Authority for Special Economic Zones and Free Zones in partnership with Madha Development Company — a joint Omani-Emirati venture. Covering an initial area of 14 square kilometers, with potential expansion up to 25 square kilometers in its second phase, the development is strategically positioned to attract a diverse range of industries.

The developer will oversee the establishment of critical public infrastructure including roads, water and wastewater networks, and essential utilities. A comprehensive master plan, along with environmental studies and initial design concepts, will shape the long-term development of the zone.

Targeted sectors in the first phase include manufacturing, logistics, warehousing, pharmaceuticals, plastics, food production, and mining. Security and safety services will also be integrated, alongside a one-stop-shop to streamline investor services.
