Muscat – This id the first of its kind project in the governorate in terms of size and integration. It will be built on an area of 200,000 square meters and is expected to be ready in 20 months.
The project’s strategic location, in the centre of the Wilayat, was chosen based on a comprehensive study of the population’s needs. It reflects Al Dhahirah Governorate’s focus on establishing recreational and development projects within residential areas and close to the governorate’s urban centres, in line with the Ibri Master Plan.
The park’s design takes into account high standards of quality and sustainability, including healthy paths, green spaces, a lake and fountains, children’s play areas, umbrellas, and seating areas.
The project will also include a multi-use square for seasonal events, an open theatre for events that can accommodate 600 visitors and designated areas for activities such as equestrian, four-wheel drive bikes, skiing, climbing wall, and zip wire sports. It will feature an area for football and tennis courts, a commercial zone, and aesthetic sculptures that reflect the Omani architectural character. Additionally, there will be an area for restaurants and cafes, more than 700 parking spaces, and all service facilities to meet the needs of visitors.
His Excellency Najib bin Ali Al Rawas, Governor of Al Dhahirah, stated that this project, like similar projects currently being implemented in the governorate’s wilayats, supports the government’s strategic direction towards humanising cities and creating a sustainable urban environment. He also lauded the role of oil and gas companies and their fruitful cooperation in contributing to this project and other vital projects in the governorate’s wilayats.
Mohammed bin Ahmed Al Darmaki, General Manager of Human Resources and Support Services at Daleel Petroleum, explained that the Ibri Public Park project is jointly funded by Al Dhahirah Governorate and the sector’s companies (Daleel Petroleum, Petroleum Development Oman, OQ, Oxy, BP, CCED, and ARA Petroleum) under the supervision of the Ministry of Energy and Minerals.
It’s worth noting that this project coincides with the establishment of several other projects in the wilayats of Al Dhahirah Governorate, reflecting the governorate’s commitment to its plans to expand basic, developmental, and recreational services to include all villages and wilayats of Al Dhahirah Governorate.
