Muscat: Joining global celebrations, Oman underscored the critical importance of maintaining a balanced relationship between humans and nature. The occasion serves not only to raise public awareness about biodiversity conservation but also to recognize the pivotal role ecosystems play in tackling climate, environmental, and economic challenges.
Spearheading the country’s efforts, the Environment Authority continues to implement strategic plans aimed at preserving the nation’s rich biodiversity. These include a wide array of field studies across various governorates, focused on surveying wildlife, endangered species, and environmental habitats. The Authority is also actively developing a national biodiversity strategy and action plan in line with international best practices.
Key initiatives involve environmental surveys of arthropods, assessments of endangered flora and fauna, and the formulation of conservation frameworks that aim to both protect and sustain Oman’s natural heritage.
