MUSCAT : The session, held under the patronage of His Excellency Dr. Said bin Mohammed Al Saqri, Minister of Economy, highlighted the strategic direction of the new plan, which focuses on participatory planning and expands its scope to the central and governorate levels. The programme follows an integrated approach to achieving balanced development in all governorates by supporting decentralisation and complementing the legislative framework aimed at enhancing economic and social opportunities.

This is intended to ensure a fair distribution of development components and achieve sustainable growth in all governorates.

The session also featured interactive sessions between working groups to discuss proposals and recommendations for development programmes that are consistent with the actual needs of each governorate.

Speaking on the occasion, the Minister stated that the seminar complements national efforts aimed at achieving the goals of Oman Vision 2040. He noted that it draws on the accumulated experience from preparing and implementing previous plans to develop more integrated and effective strategic policies and programs.

His Excellency pointed out that the priority of developing governorates and sustainable cities, as outlined in Oman Vision 2040, focuses on improving infrastructure to ensure the well-being of the population and enhance the cities as advanced economic and cultural centres.

His Excellency highlighted that the plan is designed to enhance the competitiveness of governorates by capitalising on their unique comparative advantages, directing investments toward high-impact projects, and fostering sustainable local economies. He added that the participatory process aims to ensure that development is inclusive, equitable, and responsive to the real needs of the population.
