Muscat: The forum brought together experts and over 200 primary care physicians to enhance early diagnosis and treatment of common skin conditions at the primary care level.

Under the patronage of His Excellency Dr. Saeed bin Hareb Al Lamki, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Health for Health Affairs, the forum aimed to equip primary healthcare providers with the skills to recognize and manage skin conditions early—helping reduce unnecessary referrals, long waiting lists, and ensuring patients receive timely care.

Dr. Aisha bint Abdullah Al Ali, Consultant Dermatologist and Head of Al Khuwair Dermatology Center and the Omani Dermatology Association, emphasized the importance of strong communication between primary care and specialized dermatology. “Integration of roles is the foundation for providing comprehensive and sustainable healthcare to patients,” she noted in her opening remarks.

The forum covered a range of topics frequently encountered in clinics, including psoriasis, atopic dermatitis, acne, pediatric skin conditions, hair disorders, and skin emergencies. Physicians were trained to diagnose these issues early and determine appropriate treatments or when specialist referrals were warranted.

A display of modern medical devices, therapeutic and cosmetic dermatology products, and participation from pharmaceutical companies showcased advancements in the field. Attendees also viewed a presentation highlighting the outcomes of the forum’s first edition.

The forum concluded with the honoring of speakers, discussion leaders, and supporting institutions—reflecting the collaborative effort across public and private healthcare sectors. Dr. Aisha affirmed that this forum will serve as a launchpad for ongoing scientific initiatives that promote early patient care, interprofessional cooperation, and clinical excellence.
