Muscat: The 210-kilometre road in Dhofar’s Al Mazyouna is set to enhance connectivity, trade, and safety across the region, with full completion targeted by Q4 of 2026.

The Harweeb–Al Mazyouna–Miten road project, which stretches 210 kilometres through the Wilayat of Al Mazyouna, is progressing steadily, with 57% of work completed to date. As of now, 90 kilometres from the centre of Al Mazyouna towards the Niyabat of Miten have been paved, including the recently finished 30-kilometre stretch of the Al Mazyouna–Tosnat road.

The project includes the development of a modern asphalt road network along with essential infrastructure such as rainwater drainage systems, flood protection measures, and full traffic safety elements like signage and road markings. Ground painting and sign installations are currently underway on the completed sections.

Divided into four major segments—Harweeb–Andat (45 km), Andat–Tosnat (26 km), Tosnat–Al Mazyouna (39 km), and Al Mazyouna–Miten (90 km)—the project also involves paving the 11-kilometre Andat–Habrout route. This infrastructure initiative is critical in linking Al Mazyouna’s main hub with its key localities and economic zones.

The road will connect the Wilayat with the Al Mazyouna land port and free zone, and extend towards the border with the Republic of Yemen. The Ministry emphasized that this vital artery will not only ease transportation but will also serve as a catalyst for economic, commercial, tourism, and social development in the region.

The Ministry affirmed its commitment to completing the project ahead of schedule in collaboration with the local contractor and reaffirmed its broader goal to strengthen the national road network.
