Muscat: The Arab Summit in the Iraqi capital comes at a critical time, with the region grappling with escalating conflicts, economic challenges, and the urgent need for unified Arab action. His Excellency Abdullah bin Nasser Al Rahbi, Oman’s Ambassador to Egypt and Permanent Representative to the Arab League, stressed that Oman’s participation reflects its firm belief in cooperation as the path to regional stability.
Al Rahbi underscored Oman’s longstanding role in fostering Arab unity and promoting dialogue to overcome shared political and economic challenges. “The summit offers a vital platform for Arab countries to consult and coordinate to address ongoing crises,” he said, emphasizing the Sultanate’s support for joint initiatives that bolster political, economic, and cultural ties among member states.
Central to the summit’s agenda is the Palestinian issue, described as the “core Arab cause.” Oman reiterated its support for a just and comprehensive solution that enables the Palestinian people to establish an independent state with Jerusalem as its capital.

The summit is also expected to launch a parallel economic summit, addressing pressing regional concerns including food and energy security. Al Rahbi expressed hope that the meetings would lead to practical strategies to enhance economic cooperation and resilience across the Arab world.
Echoing this sentiment, Dr. Qahtan Taha Khalaf Al-Janabi, Iraq’s Ambassador to Cairo, stated that Baghdad—long seen as the “House of Peace”—aims to steer the summit toward meaningful resolutions. He emphasized the collective Arab stance against the displacement of Palestinians and called for an immediate cessation of hostilities in Gaza.
Dr. Al-Janabi also condemned the continued Israeli aggression across the region, noting its violations of international law and humanitarian principles. He praised the Arab League’s unified front on the Palestinian issue and stressed the importance of Arab solidarity.
Both Oman and Iraq voiced strong support for deeper Arab economic integration, trade development, and investment partnerships, with hopes that the summit will mark a turning point in joint Arab action.
