Muscat – With more than 80 percent of units sold in some projects, the initiative reflects growing public and investor confidence in the government’s vision for integrated and liveable residential communities.
The ‘Sorouh’ initiative currently encompasses 18 integrated residential projects and schemes across Oman’s governorates, covering more than six million square meters and offering over 9,950 housing units. With an investment value exceeding RO 500 million, the initiative is aligned with Oman Vision 2040, aiming to enhance the quality of life, increase home ownership opportunities, and promote sustainable urban expansion.
According to the Ministry, the initiative has already created employment opportunities for more than 360 Omani nationals and supported 145 small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) through various phases of construction and development. Integrated planning has also led to a significant reduction in infrastructure costs of more than 45 percent, thanks to coordinated service deployment.
Among the standout projects is Al Naseem District in the Wilayat of Barka, South Al Batinah Governorate, offering 1,051 housing units on 355,000 square meters with investments of RO 80 million. Sales have already reached 60 percent. In Nakhal, the Al Luban District includes 1,442 housing units spread over 646,000 square meters, with a current sales rate of 26 percent and investments totalling RI 111 million.
In the Dakhiliyah Governorate, Hisn Al Zain in the Wilayat of Bidbid has sold 75 percent of its 639 residential units and boasts an investment of RO 30 million. The Majd neighbourhood in Sohar, North Al Batinah, has seen 77 percent of its 1,057 units sold, with an investment of RO 50 million.
In the southern Dhofar Governorate, the Al Shurooq Residential Neighbourhood in Salalah has recorded a 79 percent sales rate of its 558 units, supported by RO 35 million in investment. In Musandam, Nakheel Hills in Khasab offers 650 mixed residential units on 635,000 square meters, while in Muscat Governorate, Al Ahd Neighbourhood in Al Amerat includes 965 residential units on 445,000 square meters, designed with modern architectural features and full amenities.
The private sector continues to play a vital role in the initiative, with joint developments including Nasma Zain in Sur (407 units), Hay Al Mazn in Samayil (194 units), Hay Al Nama in Izki (182 units), and Hay Al Salam in Al Buraimi (521 units).
In a move to fast-track infrastructure readiness, the Ministry signed 24 agreements for the development of water, sewage, electricity, and telecommunications networks in eight Sorouh Residential Neighbourhoods. These agreements, made in partnership with Nama Water and Wastewater Company, Nama Electricity Distribution Company, and Oman Broadband Company, are expected to significantly enhance the liveability and functionality of the neighbourhoods.
It’s worth noting that Sorouh embodies the Sultanate of Oman’s drive to build modern urban communities that ensure human well-being and provide a stable and safe residential environment. This is achieved through flexible planning models and effective partnerships between the public and private sectors, enhancing opportunities for home ownership, improving quality of life, and aligning with the goals of Oman Vision 2040.
