RIYADH: As part of ongoing security campaigns to ensure the safety and sanctity of the Hajj pilgrimage, Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Interior announced the arrest of 42 expats holding various visit visas who tried to perform Hajj in violation of strict pilgrimage rules.

The arrests took place in Mecca, where authorities are rigorously enforcing entry restrictions during the Hajj season. The individuals were found to have entered the holy city without the mandatory Hajj permits, defying clear guidelines issued to both residents and international visitors.

Legal action has been initiated against the offenders, and investigations are underway to track down those who facilitated the violations by providing shelter, transport, or other forms of support. Officials warned that such facilitators will face severe consequences, including jail time, fines, deportation, and confiscation of vehicles or properties involved in the offence.

The Ministry reiterated that only those with valid Hajj permits are allowed to enter Mecca during this period. It urged the public to stay vigilant and report any suspicious activities or violations by calling 911 in Mecca, Riyadh, and the Eastern Province, or 999 in other areas of the Kingdom.
