SHARJAH: The Sharjah Executive Council (SEC), chaired by Sheikh Abdullah bin Salem Al Qasimi—Deputy Ruler of Sharjah and Vice Chairman of the SEC—issued the decision during its recent meeting held on Tuesday.
According to the new directive, all outstanding traffic violations recorded by the competent authority at the Sharjah Police General Command will be dropped if they are more than 10 years old. The move is part of the emirate’s initiative to ease financial burdens and streamline traffic records.
To avail the waiver, applicants must submit a formal request and pay a fee of Dh1,000. However, the council has outlined exceptions where this fee is waived:

In the event of the verified death of the vehicle owner
If the vehicle owner has continuously been outside the UAE for a minimum of 10 years
For abandoned vehicles whose owners cannot be located.
